Hing, who originally came from China 35 years ago, is the owner and head chef of Hong Kong 97’. He worked in numerous well-known Chinese restaurants, such as Hi Hat and House of Louie before he started his own business. In 1997, he opened his first restaurant at a small location on McLoughlin Boulevard. Hong Kong 97’ soon expanded, opening a second restaurant on King Road.

In order to ensure that the highest possible quality was maintained, Hing decided to sell the McLoughlin location and focus all his attention on the the King Road restaurant.

Hing’s famous dish is General Tsao’s Chicken; a must-try. Unlike any other in the Portland area.
